Announcing Hexakai Plus

Hexakai is, and always will be, free to all users, but today, I'm happy to announce the launch of Hexakai Plus, an offering with strategy-based hints, no ads, custom themes and backgrounds, and a full set of options to customize your gameplay experience. It's available today on the web, Android, and iOS.

Hints that teach you the strategy, not just the cell

A Plus hint tells you which strategy unlocks the next cell, highlights the cells involved, and links to a full explanation in the Strategies of Hexakai guide. You still make the move yourself, so the board stays yours. After a few boards you start spotting those patterns without the hint.

Take on the behemoth

Free boards go up to size 10. Plus unlocks sizes 11 through 16 at every difficulty. Those boards are where Hexakai's deepest strategies come into play. My own first size 16 ultra-difficult board took roughly 55 hours to conquer.

Every daily puzzle you missed

Missed a week? Plus opens the full daily puzzle archive, so you can go back and play any daily puzzle, each with its own name.

No ads, ever

Play without a single ad for as long as you're subscribed.

One subscription, everywhere

Hexakai Plus is $4.99 a month, and one subscription covers the web, Android, and iOS. Log in with your Hexakai account and Plus, along with your saved boards, follows you to every device.

Cancel anytime. You keep Plus until the end of the month you already paid for. Checkout runs through Stripe on the web, Google Play on Android, and the App Store on iOS, so Hexakai never sees your payment details.

Hexakai stays free

Easy and medium boards up to size 10, one difficult or ultra difficult board a day, today's daily puzzle, basic hints, one strategy hint a day, and the light and dark themes stay free. Plus is how you get the rest of the game.

Correction, October 17, 2026: this post originally said free play has no limit on how many boards you play. Free play can include a daily limit on new boards; Hexakai Plus has none.

Update, October 21, 2026: this post originally said boards up to size 10 stay free. Difficult and ultra difficult boards of sizes 7 to 10 are now part of Hexakai Plus, with one free a day; sizes 3 and 5 and the daily puzzle stay free at every difficulty.

Update, October 21, 2026: free play now includes one strategy hint a day: your first hint of the day, whenever the board has one; your other hints that day are basic hints. Hexakai Plus gives a strategy hint whenever the board has one.

Why Plus

Hexakai is made by one developer: me. Players had already completed more than 10,000 boards by May 2025, and every subscription goes straight back into new puzzles and new features. If Hexakai has given you a few good puzzle sessions, Plus is the best way to keep it growing.
